Introducing Teachers to TTFM® Surveys - FAQ

The Tell Them From Me® Teacher Survey is an effective way to gather reliable insight from teachers and further increase school effectiveness. This online survey instrument allows teachers to give their input into school improvement in an anonymous manner.

Schools can use this insight as a planning tool to focus on the development of effective professional learning strategies that meet the needs of teachers to improve student learning outcomes.

1. What is the purpose of the Focus on Learning teacher survey?
The Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Teacher Survey is an effective tool to gather reliable insight from teachers and further increase school effectiveness. This online survey instrument allows teachers to give their input into school improvement initiatives in an anonymous manner.

2. What kind of questions will I be asked?
The questions in the survey are grouped to assess eight of the most important Drivers of Student Learning and the Four Dimensions of Classroom and School Practices. Research on classroom and school effectiveness has consistently shown these factors to be strong correlates of student achievement.

3. Will my response be anonymous?
To ensure anonymity, teachers are provided with a random user name and password. Data suppression measures are used to ensure teacher anonymity.

4. How long will it take to complete the survey?
Based on current statistics, 95% of participants completing the teacher survey will complete it in 22 minutes.

5. Can all staff complete the survey?
All teaching staff are encouraged to complete the survey. Although certain sections or questions may apply to counsellors or support staff, most TTFM Teacher Survey content is specifically relevant to classroom teachers (e.g., Teaching Strategies, Data Informs Practice, Learning Culture).

The Learning Bar considers school support staff valuable members of a school. The survey's focus and its results enable school leaders to develop professional learning strategies that meet the needs of teachers to improve student learning outcomes (i.e., planned learning opportunities, quality feedback, and support for students to achieve learning goals).

6. Who will see the data that my school collects?
Your Principal and TTFM School Coordinator will be able to access your schools aggregated data. In the reports that are generated they will not see individual teacher responses.

If you have any questions about the teacher survey, please speak with your Principal or TTFM School Coordinator or alternatively contact us via email or by telephone 1800 823 621.
